As an Amazon Associate, Modern Home Grid earns from qualifying purchases.
Modern Home Grid takes part in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
What that means in practice
Some of the links on this site go to Amazon and carry a tracking tag that identifies us. If you follow one of those links and buy something, Amazon may pay us a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same — the commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not out of your pocket, and it does not depend on you buying the specific item we linked to.
Where the links are, and how you can tell
Every page that contains an affiliate link carries a notice at the top saying so, before you reach the link. Affiliate links are also marked in the page code as rel="sponsored nofollow", which is what Google asks for and what a browser extension would use to flag them.
Most of the affiliate links on this site are on the gear page. A few appear inside guides, and only where the guide already tells you to do something — for example, where an article explains that a smart bulb cannot sit behind a traditional wall dimmer and you therefore need a different kind of control.
How affiliate links affect what we publish
They do not decide what we recommend, and we would rather say how that is kept honest than simply assert it:
- We do not review products and we do not publish rankings or "best of" tables. There is no list to bias.
- Links point at searches, not at single products. Our gear page explains what to look for in a category and then opens the current listings, so you choose. We do not pick a winner for you.
- We publish no prices. There is nothing to inflate and nothing to go stale.
- A guide that says "do not buy this" stays that way. Where the right answer is to replace a wall switch rather than buy another bulb, that is what the guide says.
Advertising
Separately from affiliate links, this site shows advertising through Google AdSense. Those ads are selected by Google, not by us, and advertisers have no involvement in the content of the guides. How advertising cookies work, and how to refuse them, is covered in our cookie policy and in the consent banner.
Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other websites. You can read how Google uses that information at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and you can turn off personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
